Reclaiming the Narrative: The LOOTY Story of Art and Power
You know those big, fancy museums around the world? The ones with glass cases filled with treasures from every corner of the globe? Yeah, those. Inside them, African artifacts often sit as silent reminders of colonization and cultural theft. That's where LOOTY comes in—not just as an art collective but as a revolutionary movement determined to reclaim these stories using the power of digital tech.LOOTY sprang from the fact that i saw something profoundly wrong: about 90 percent of African art is outside Africa. My mission is simple but bold: digitally bring these treasures back to life and give them the visibility they deserve in their rightful contexts. LOOTY stands at the crossroads of art, technology, activism, and history, using innovative methods to shake up traditional museum practices and colonial legacies. LOOTY's work doesn't stop at creating cool digital replicas. By leveraging cutting-edge tech, they challenge the traditional gatekeepers of cultural heritage and open up new ways for people to engage with history. Their use of AR, 3D design, and Web3 tech represents a major shift in how we interact with historical artifacts.
